How do you convert a PDF to JPG?

Four steps, and the third is the one that decides whether the result is usable. Upload the PDF. Pick the pages — all of them, or a range, which matters when a supplier catalogue runs to 40 pages and you need 3. Choose the resolution. Download the pages as separate JPGs or as one ZIP.

Everything runs in your browser. The file is never uploaded to a server, which is the part that matters when the PDF is a supplier price list or a GST invoice with your client’s details on it.

Which DPI should you pick?

This is the setting people get wrong, and it goes wrong in both directions.

72 DPI is screen resolution. Use it when the image is going onto WhatsApp, Instagram or a website and nothing will be printed. A page comes out around 600 x 850 pixels and a few hundred KB — small enough to send on a weak connection.

150 DPI is the middle setting and the right default for a marketplace listing. It survives being zoomed into on a phone without producing a file too heavy to upload.

300 DPI is print resolution. A single A4 page comes out about 2480 x 3508 pixels. Use it when the JPG is going to a printer, and only then — a 40 pages catalogue at 300 DPI is a large download for someone on mobile data.

Converting up does not work. A PDF built from a 72 DPI scan has no more detail to give at 300 DPI; you get a bigger file with the same blur in it. The resolution ceiling is whatever went into the PDF originally.

What do Indian sellers use this for?

Supplier catalogues. Wholesalers in Surat and Delhi send lookbooks as PDFs. A PDF cannot go into a WhatsApp catalogue or an Instagram carousel; JPGs can. Converting a 40 pages lookbook gives you 40 images you can send to customers one at a time, or upload as a set.

Price lists you do not want edited. A PDF price list can be opened and altered. An image cannot, easily. Sellers convert before forwarding to a customer for exactly that reason.

Marketplace listings. Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon all take images, not documents. A product sheet that arrived as a PDF has to become JPGs before any of it can be listed.

GST invoices and records. Some portals and WhatsApp groups accept an image where they will not accept a document. Converting the invoice page is faster than screenshotting it and gives a cleaner result.

What should you check before uploading the JPGs?

Marketplace primary images have to be clean. Meesho, Flipkart and Amazon all reject a catalogue photo carrying text, a logo, a border or a price sticker — and a page converted straight out of a supplier PDF usually carries all four, because the supplier put them there.

Crop the page down to the product before you list it, then resize to the size the portal asks for. A converted page is a starting point, not a listing image.

Check the file size too. A 300 DPI page can run to several MB, which most portals reject outright. If a converted page is too heavy, convert again at 150 DPI instead of compressing a large file afterwards — re-compressing a JPG degrades it twice.
